Those not experienced with game theory often refer to RPS as a game of random chance. In fact, RPS has no element of “randomness” in it. The reason is that both players are actually making a decision and as you mentioned humans cannot approach true random behaviour and are constantly influenced by others and environmental factors.

The 2008 RPS championships were also held last weekend in Toronto.

I thought I simplified the strategy to winning at rock paper scissors after “horrendously over complicating” it… only play against the person you like… and play for kisses!

Another show of humanity – to err is human, but so is to horrendously over complicate any given scenario.

Cool though – I’ll be sure to play for some tickets to Reading this year.

I find that I’m not that lucky a guy. (I’ve very rarely won at gambling of any kind.) So I’m one of those folks who over-thinks stuff and comes up with a better strategy to overcome our lack of luck.

The 6 strategies are for good fun. They are very easy to remember actually because reasons and examples are given for each of them.

But even then, I only recommend that you play the game when you win even when you lose (when the losing stakes are a lot of fun!)
